Remote Control and Monitoring
Click below for more details.
Ethernet Monitoring
Ethernet control and monitoring is available for SE NDB transmitters. Transmitter functions are accessible by user’s PC
Remote Control Unit Monitoring
SAC transmitters can be monitored and controlled by the Remote Control Unit (RCU) over the user’s LAN, through fiber optic wire, or via Radio Link.
Key Features of Web Watch:
- TX Setup
- Calibration
- IP Configuration
- Time & Date
- Location Site
- Save allows the user to save current system configuration
Ethernet Control and Monitoring is available for the SAC Transmitters. Our local and remote controlling options are easy to set up and even easier to use. The most convenient and efficient option on the market is our Web Watch program. All transmitter functions are accessible either by PC or remote control. A server or user-definable IP address is accessible by a local PC or an Ethernet connection. The transmitters are available with an embedded web server so there is no additional software to load. We have several connection options to fit your project’s needs.

Ethernet Radio Link
The Ethernet Radio Link is an IP67 rated Industrial Wireless Raio equipped with an Ethernet bridge allowing the connection of the transmitter’s Ethernet port over a wireless radio medium to a distant Ethernet ready computer or LAN.
The wireless transceivers must be the same model at both NDB and remote sites to allow communication of data over this wireless link.
Here is a visualization of the Ethernet Radio Link system.
Ethernet to Fiber Optic Converter
A Fiber Optic Converter is combined with an internal Ethernet bridge to allow connection of the transmitter’s embedded serial server program with a remote computer utilizing a fiber medium.
Multi-mode operation is used up to 2 km distance and Single-mode operation is used for distance up to 20 km. Two identical converters are required in order to communicate data between the Transmitter and an Ethernet ready computer.
Ethernet Land Line Dial-Up
This modem is a Remote Access Switch that combines a telephone modem with 5 port Ethernet managed switch. This powerful combination aloows easy and secure access of the Ethernet network from any remote location over standard telephone lines.
This configuration is only intended to allow the end user access to the transmitter’s embedded Web Server via a dial-up telephone network modem.
When dialed, the transmitter will answer automatically.
Ethernet Leased Line Modem
A Leased Line Modem is combined with an internal Ethernet bridge to allow connection of the SE transmitter to a remote computer via a TELCO Network.
Two identical modems are required for proper communication of data over telephone line or copper wires extended between the user’s computer and the transmitter.
Ethernet Extender
Two Ethernet Extenders are combined with an internal Ethernet bridge to allow series extension of the transmitter’s Ethernet communication network via a RJ-11 terminated TELCO Network cable.

The addition of the Remote Control to the Radiobeacon Control System involves the installation of a Remote Radiobeacon Control Unit at the remote control site, and connection of either RS-232 or RS-485 from the transmitter. The RCU can be linked by RS485 or RS232 from the transmitter or daisy chain multiple RCU’s maximum length.
The RCU is also designed for indoor mounting in a standard 19 inch cabinet. Panel height is 9 in. (22cm), panel depth is 8 in (21cm), and width is 19 in. (48cm).
Remote Control Unit Connection Options
The Transmitter can be monitored and controlled by the Remote Control Unit over the user’s LAN, through fiber optic wire, or via Radio Link. Our control and monitoring options for the Remote Control Unit are easy to set up and operate. The Remote Control Unit can also be used in conjunction with our Web Watch software. This enables you to monitor and operate your system from virtually anywhere. We have several connection options to fit your project’s needs.
Remote Control RS485 to ST MM Fiber Converter
The Remote Control RS485 to ST MM Fiber Converter allows the Remote Control Unit to be connected to the SAC Transmitter over Multi Mode Fiber.
The user is given control and monitoring from a distance of 1.3 miles (2km) via the Remote Control Unit (not included).
RS485/RS232 to Ethernet Serial for RCU
This system allows the Remote Control Unit (RCU) monitoring and partial control of the transmitter via the user’s Local Area Network.
When used in conjunction with the Ethernet Radio Link option SLF83304, the Transmitter and RCU can be monitored over a wireless network (SE System Remote Control Over Ethernet Radio Link-SLF83323)
SE System Remote Control Over Ethernet Radio Link
The Remote Control Over Ethernet Radio Link is a combination of two systems to provide control and monitoring from virtually anywhere.
Both the Remote Control Unit and Webwatch systems are connected via wireless LAN. This allows remote communication from a laptop and from the Remote Control Unit.
MR-5 Monitor Receiver- Desktop
The SAC MR-5 Monitor Receiver with Loop Antenna fulfills FAA requirements for “off the air” monitoring for non Fed instrument approaches.
Single channel operation in the 190kHz – 650kHz frequency range.
Available in 19-inch rack mount or desk top configuration.

Southern Avionics can supply you with the type of serial adapter you require.
The SA Serial Server Converter converts the serial protocol in SA Series transmitters to standard RS232 and RS485 protocol and allows the user to communicate with the SA through other RS232 or RS485 devices like modems or the SLF81014 Fiber extender.
P/N: SLF81015
The Multi-Mode and Single-Mode Fiber Optic Converter allows the remote control capabilities of all SE NDB transmitters to be extended up to 2 km (multi) and 20 km (single).
This is achieved through multi-mode or single-mode fiber connection to RS-232 or RS-485.
The kit includes fiber to full duplex serial converters for both ends of the fiber optic cable.
